Pinelands Regional School District is seeking a Substitute Custodian for the 7-3pm shift.
Qualifications:
- Black Seal License - Preferred, but not mandatory
- High school graduate preferred
- Previous custodial experience preferred
- Possess basic technological skills as required by the position
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both orally and through written expression
- Must complete required health examination(s) and immunization(s)
- Must pass required criminal history background check
- Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident status
Performance Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of students
- Uphold and enforce school rules, Board policies, and federal/state laws
- Communicate professionally within the school community
- The Custodian is directly responsible to the Educational Facilities Manager and/or Custodial Foreman for all school building custodial operations. The Custodian conducts all phases of buildings and grounds sanitation under the direction of the Educational Facilities Manager and/or Custodial Foreman. He/she also attains a working knowledge of all building operating systems
- Sweeps, vacuums and wet-cleans floors, cleans lavatories, etc., as assigned by the Custodial Foreman
- Moves custodial cleaning supplies, furniture and equipment within buildings as directed
- Light maintenance of heating, lighting and plumbing systems as required and paints as required (includes air filters, ceiling tiles and light bulb changes)
- Removes waste materials from all areas and prepares them for disposal
- Daily polices the perimeter of the building(s) for cleanliness, picks up trash.
- Removes snow and ice from entrances, steps and walkways
- Sets up equipment (tables, chairs, athletic gear, etc.) for school activities and community activities in the school
- Any other work assigned by the Educational Facilities Manager or the Custodial Foreman
- Becomes knowledgeable of all building operating systems and critical controls.
- Maintain regular attendance so as to ensure continuity of instruction and/or efficient operation of the school district
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or his/her designees
Environmental Demands:
- Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions
- Exposure to both heated/air conditioned and non-climate controlled environments
- Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment
- Potential exposure to a variety of childhood and adult illnesses
- Exposure to a workplace that is usually quiet, but can be noisy at times.
